Every now and then you may have to block particular third parties from accessing your sites. There are plenty of automatic bots which crawl the Internet, for instance, and generate fake visits and traffic. There are spammers that leave links to shady websites as comments to website articles. Such things may drastically undermine your hard work, because no one likes to visit a site with tons of fake comments, not to mention that the increased site traffic from both spammers and bots may create high load on the web server where your Internet site is hosted, that could result in the site not working correctly. One of the best solutions in such cases is to block the IPs that produce the fake traffic, in order to ensure that the visits to your Internet site are real.

IP Blocking in Hosting

Our Linux hosting plans offer an IP blocking tool, so in case you want to limit the access to your Internet sites, you'll be able to do this with a few mouse clicks. The tool is included with the Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with all accounts and that's very easy to use. Once you log in and check out the IP blocking section, you shall just have to pick a domain or a subdomain hosted in the account and enter the IP address which needs to be blocked. Our system allows you to block entire networks also, so if you enter 123.123.123., for example, this shall block all IP addresses between 123.123.123.1 and 123.123.123.255 from accessing your sites. In case you wish to whitelist an IP at some point, you can unblock it with a mouse click from the same section.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you wish to block one or several IP addresses sooner or later, you may take advantage of the easy-to-use blocking tool, which we've supplied with our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With a couple of mouse clicks, you shall be able to block individual IPs or whole ranges, if required. All you shall have to do is pick any of your domains or subdomains from a drop-down menu, select if the blocking must be valid for the root folder or for a subfolder that is part of the site, and then type in the IP address that you would like to block. For an IP range, you just need to omit the last octet or the last 2 octets of the address with regards to the size of the network you want to block. All of the addresses you have restricted will be listed inside the exact same section and if you would like to whitelist any one of them, you'll be able to do it with only a click at any time.
